Siegerrebe (case of 12 - $16.90/bottle) + $1.20 bottle deposit
Translated from German, Siegerrebe means "victory wine."
THE WINE Siegerrebe makes a delicate white wine which has a luscious sweetness with soft acidity -- fresh, lively and clean. It is off dry, low in acid and alcohol. Immensely aromatic, similar to muscat with aromas of spice, apricot, pineapple, tropical fruits, grapefruit, peach and rose petals. Flavour is spicy, similar to Gewurztraminer such as anise and clove. Has a lingering finish- stays in the mouth more than a minute.
FOOD PARING Pairs well with spicy foods such as spiced coconut curry, Asian foods--stewed apples and lighter foods. Great with honey glazed ham. Easy drinking on its own. Serve chilled. Very appealing to our summer visitors--great summer sipper
THE GRAPE German white cold -climate grape variety. Long hot summer days and cool evenings which is what these grapes need. This is an early ripening grape and is ideally suited to the Shuswap climate. Siegerrebe vines have a late season bud burst and ripen in early September. Siegerrebe is a record holder for must weight -- clusters are gigantic. The grape has a reddish-pink skin.
PARENTAGE Siegerrebe comes from a cross between Gewurztraminer and Madelaine Angevine grapes.
