About the event

Presenting the 4th Annual Sycamore String Quartet Concert playing music by Bach, Schubert, Raminsh, Hindemith, Koncz and pop songs.  

Cvetozar Vutev - Violin

 is a concertmaster of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra adn teaches violin, viola ad chamber music at the Kamloops Symphony Music School.  He is also concertmaster of the Symphony of the Kootenays, a first violinist with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, a choir instructor at Thomspon Rivers University in Kamloops, and a music director of both Raminsh Choir and Kamloops Brandenburg Orchestra.  

Cvetozar received his master's degree in violin performance and his doctorate in musicology and musical arts from Pancho Vladigerov National Academy of Music in Sofia (Bulgaria).  Cvetozar has played in numerous solo, chamber, symphony, and opera performances across Europe, East Asia and Canada.

 Sandra Wilmot - Violin

Sandra wilmont is a Kelowna-based freelance violinist, educator, piano accompanist, clinician, journalist and award-winning composer.  She plays regularly with both the Okanagan and Kamloops Symphony Orchestras and maintains a large studio of private students and string ensembles at the Kelowna Community Music School, the Kamloops  Symphony Music School and the Penticton Academy of Music.  She is also engaged as both a teaching and administrative faculty member for one of the largest summer string programs in B.C., Strings the Thing, which takes place every July in Kelowna.  Sandra is a graduate of the University of British Columbia. 

Ashley Kroecher - Viola

Known throughout teh Thompson Okanagan region as Mr. Viola, Ashley grew up on North Vancouver and studied mainly at UBC and the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Trossingen, Germany.  his principal and assistant principal violist of the Kamloops and Okanagan Symphony Orchestras respectively, and is the violist of the Sycamore String Quartet.  Also, a passionate teacher, he has helped many musicians of all ages harness their inner potential.  In his free time, he enjoys the great outdoors with his familly, dabbles in mild adrenaline sports, and experiments with organic gardening. 

Martin Kratky - Cello

Much in demand as a section leader, chamber musician, and soloist, cellist Martin Kratky is currently principal cellist of the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra adn core second chair in teh Okanagan Symphony.  A graduate of the University of Toronto adn the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Martin also participated in several residencies at teh Banff Centre and chamber music festivals across the continent.  Immediately after grad school, Martin won the principal cello seat with the Saskatoon Symphony, his first professional position.   In teh 2023/24 season, Martin will perform Anna Clyne's cello concerto, DANCE witht the Kamloops Symphony.  Martin is a dedicated teacher, maintaining an active studio through both the Kelowna Community Music School, and the Kamloops Symphony Music School.   His students have won awards at local and regional festivals.  Martin is also a regular guest facuity at the Strings the Thing  summer camp.   In his spare time, he builds and tends his off-grid mountain property.

  • Reception to follow

All proceeds in support of the North Shuswap Lions Community Youth Fund and the two community halls.  Tickets include a complimentary glass of wine for adults and a beverage for the youth.  Adult Tickets include a draw for 4 bottles of wine supplied by Celista Estate Winery Ltd.
