Celista Estate Winery is producing some of Canada’s best wines. The winery has just won four medals in the All Canadian Wine Championships, including two double-gold medals, one each for Celista Cuvee and Marg’s Rose; a gold medal for Oak Barrel Foch Reserve; and, a bronze medal for Siegerrebe.
In an eleven-year period the winery has won over 100 medals. “we are overjoyed,” said Jake Ootes, who with his wife Margaret operate Celista Estate Winery. “We are so proud of our team -- vineyard workers, tasting room staff, outside sales reps and most of all our winemaker, Lee Holland. Lee has been our winemaker since start up. I am incredibly pleased for him. These awards are a testament to his incredible skill, and of course his first-class palate.”
The All Canadian Wine Championships were held on July 25 in Niagara peninsula in Ontario. It is the oldest and one of the largest wine competitions in the country. Wines were blind tasted by eleven professional judges including wine journalists, wine makers, wine retailers and wine educators.
“We aspire to be better each year--refining the grape growing and the wine making process.” The winery is the most northern grape winery in North America. “We are located on a perfect site for grape growing -- a distinct bowl among distant mountains and the proximity of Shuswap Lake. Our terrior - air flow, soil, sun exposure, water and moisture conditions -- is a major part of our success. “ Celista Estate Winery is located on the north shore of Shuswap Lake, nine kilometers past Scotch Creek Provincial Park, in the interior of British Columbia. Press Release - June 13, 2020 - National Rose Day/Silver Award, Marg's Rose - Experience Rose Wine Competition
Today is National Rosé Day and we couldn't pick a better day to announce that our 2018 Marg's Rosé just won Silver in the 2020 Experience Rosé Competition for Best Estate Grown, Produced and Bottled.
We are so very proud of the Estate Winery designation. In case you do not know, an estate-bottled wine is made entirely from grapes owned by the winery, and the wine is made entirely on the winery's property—it doesn't ever leave the property during fermentation, aging, or bottling.
Our Marg's Rosé is well balanced blend from our hand picked Ortega and Seiggerbe grapes with a touch of Marechal Foch giving it its stunning coral colour. You will notice floral and savory notes; lilac and honeysuckle with hints of raspberry and strawberry. It pairs nicely with honeyed ham, lamb kabobs and pork medallions and it great for barbecues, brunches and special occasions.
Still a couple 2018 Marg's Rosé left on the shelf, as our new Marg's Rosé vintage is ready!! Come by our tasting room today, we are open 11am til 5pm. If you'd like to learn more about the winery, we have a tour at 11am today. Tours are $5 and include a tasting afterwards!
